Tarin Nix has served as Deputy Commissioner of Public Affairs at the New Mexico State Land Office since 2019, helping elect and support the first woman and educator to hold the office of Commissioner of Public Lands – Stephanie Garcia Richard. Along with serving as Deputy, Ms. Nix owns and operates a successful consulting firm that manages political campaigns, issue-advocacy campaigns and policy initiatives for over a decade. Ms. Nix has served as Chief Analyst for the New Mexico State House Education Committee under the leadership of Commissioner Garcia Richard when she served as Chair of the Committee in the Legislature. Ms. Nix received her B.A. in political science and women’s studies from the University of Alabama and her M.S.W. with a dual specialization in public policy and nonprofit management from the University of Texas in Austin.
