About the Artist

Capturing the gesture, the inner character, of my subjects is my primary focus. I want to convey the sense of fascination that I feel with human nature or natural beauty and the mystery of nature. Closely observing the light and colors of nature brings me a connection to the world around me that I hope to convey to viewers and collectors alike. I am passionate about character portraits, flowers and still life subjects. I have developed a unique approach to working in watercolor that I call "Wet and Workable" and offer workshops, classes and personal instruction in this and other watermedia processes.

My art career budded with a BFA degree from University of New Hampshire in figurative sculpture and
drawing followed by studies at École des Beaux Arts, France. After years in commercial design, I returned to my Fine Art sculpture roots in Colorado, participating in Loveland Sculpture Invitationals and Sedona Sculpture Walks. I adopted watercolor as my medium after moving to California where I taught at Brand Library Studios, the LA Academy of Figurative Art, and Learning & Product Expo (Pasadena). I now teach locally in Santa Fe, nationally and internationally.

I am serving on the Board of Directors of National Watercolor Society, and am a member of numerous watercolor and national art organizations; American, National, Southwestern and Valley Watercolor Societies, Portrait Society of America, and a signature member of Watercolor West, Women Artists of the West and New Mexico Watercolor Society.
