About the Artist
My Journey as an artist is both traditional and unorthodox. A native of Santa Fe, New Mexico. With family roots in both the Native American and Hispanic traditions, my exposure to museums, galleries and a wide array of skilled artisans came early in life. In many ways I was born into the world of creativity and artistic expression. My father is an accomplished architect whose designs and sketches created an environmental matrix for my childhood. I have vivid memories of helping him build many of those projects. I was greatly influenced by my great-grandfather, a renowned master Zapotec weaver, who brought time tested weaving techniques to New Mexico in the early 1900's, helping to create what is now known as Rio Grande style weaving. This family tradition has passed on to me. Texture, color, design, proportion and beauty have all been a natural part of my life.
