Currently on display at the Heritage Center is our largest exhibition to date, since opening in 2017.
The exhibition, Our Heritage Area, highlights a diverse range of art media from an impressive collective of artists spanning centuries of Northern New Mexico history . Language, culture, tradition, and environment are all at the core of how creatives express ideas about cooperation, education, and resistance in the diversely populated & perpetually contested land that is New Mexico.
Maps, artifacts, and weavings from the early 19th century, on loan from Mark & Linda Winter include banded blankets, Saltillo style serapes, and a very rare horse saddle given as a gift from the President of Mexico to the Governor of New Mexico in 1929 are on display for visitors daily. It is an educational exhibit, complete with informative labels.
